CM Punjab Solar Panel Scheme 2026: Registration Closed, But Scheme Extended Till December 2026

Registration is closed

The original registration round of the CM Punjab Solar Panel Scheme (Roshan Gharana Program) closed on 5 January 2025. That round was for domestic consumers in Punjab using up to 200 electricity units per month (based on the June 2024 bill), with a sanctioned load of up to 2 kW. Selection was done through computerized balloting and verification. Households that missed out can compare current solar panel prices in Pakistan for private installations.

Extended — but not reopened

In April 2026, the Punjab government extended the implementation period until December 2026, with more than 800,000 applications already received and additional systems to be distributed through balloting. Important: an extension of the rollout is not the same as reopening registration. No fresh registration notice had been issued as of the last verification in September 2026.

Other provinces are moving too, with Sindh courting Chinese investment in clean energy and water projects.

So, can you apply now?

Not under the original round. If the government announces a new registration phase, it will come through official channels — the portal at cmsolarscheme.punjab.gov.pk or official Punjab government announcements.

Farmers who missed out can instead explore the CM Punjab Solarization of Tube Wells scheme for their farms.

Beware of fake registration sites

With the scheme in the news, unofficial websites have been inviting “new applications” and asking for CNIC and electricity bill details. Do not share your CNIC or bill reference number on any unofficial website just because it mentions a “new phase” or “2026 registration.” Always verify against the official portal first.

If you already applied

Check your application status on the official CM Solar Scheme portal. Distribution and installations have continued into 2026 for applicants selected through balloting. Not selected? You can still plan a private installation — start with our solar system calculator.
